Self-Care Retreat for School Professionals

Self-Care Retreat for School Professionals - Plus Strategies to Benefit Students

In the ever-changing world of education, one constant is the emotional and physical stress facing today’s teachers, clinicians and students. To nurture your well-being, relaxation, and to develop strategies for self-care, join Jennifer Ganz, Nicole Tschopp, Jennifer Randle, Abbie Chessler, and the Happy Teacher Revolution’s Danna Thomas for this one-day retreat at the Light Street Presbyterian Church in Baltimore, MD. During our time together you will learn self-care practices to nourish yourself and to share with your students, including breathing techniques, yoga, and art-based mindfulness.

Our time together includes:
• The basics: mindfulness, setting intention, grounding and other foundational strategies. Building on the basics: a yoga 101 practice for self-healing and support, as well as applications for bringing practices to the classroom and modeling for your students
• Supporting creative self-expression and self-regulation with art activities
• Concluding with Happy Teacher Revolution strategies and circles, led by the founder of the Happy Teacher Revolution, Danna Thomas!

Abbie Chessler is an artist, designer and long-time mindfulness practitioner. She finds great joy in supporting others on their path of discovery, healing and compassion through mindfulness. Abbie sits regularly with the Still Water Mindfulness Practice Community and organizes and leads days of practice and classes.

Jennifer Ganz is a nationally-certified school psychologist with over fifteen years of experience in the field of Education. As a former elementary school teacher, she is an advocate for self-care and believes in supporting other school-based professionals with the implementation of innovative interventions.

Jennifer Randle, E-RYT 500, has a degree in Secondary English Education and a MFA in Modern Studies of Philosophy and Literature and has been practicing and teaching yoga since 2003. A mother of three busy children, Jennifer values the importance of sharing mindfulness with young people.

Danna Thomas is a former Baltimore City Public School teacher and the founder of Happy Teacher Revolution: a Baltimore-born, international movement with the mission to organize and conduct support groups for teachers in the field of mental health and wellness to increase teacher happiness, retention, and professional sustainability.

Nicole Tschopp, LCSW-C is a licensed, clinical social worker who has received advanced training in trauma-focused clinical assessment and treatment of children and families impacted by adverse experiences.
